What is a Chiropractic Manipulation?

A Chiropractic Manipulation is the controlled movement of a joint, by a licensed Chiropractic Physician, that allows a restricted joint to move with greater ease. This specialized technique is used by Chiropractic Physicians at Spinal Rehab and Wellness Center to mobilize the restricted joint and reduce pain by relieving irritation on the nerve. Blood flow to the surrounding area is improved allowing a greater rate of healing. The cavitation or popping sound you might hear during a manipulation is the exchange of gas from the fluid joint, similar to opening a bottle of soda.

What are the benefits of a Chiropractic Manipulation?

The benefits of a Chiropractic Manipulation are: the return of normal movement to the joint allowing the body to move with less effort; lower pain level due to relief of the irritation on nerves; a calming sensation and the relaxation of muscles surrounding the manipulated joint. A Chiropractic Manipulation restores balance to the musculoskeletal system and allows the body to heal itself naturally at a faster rate.

What can you expect during your first visit to Spinal Rehab and Wellness Center?

Your initial visit is a friendly encounter with the doctors at Spinal Rehab and Wellness Center. You’ll start by filling out paper work (located on the website) about your current condition and past health history. The doctors will discuss details about your current condition as well as any related issues that could provide insight into your complaint. You’ll receive an overall assessment of the concern as well a range of motion assessment, postural analysis, joint and muscle testing, the administration of relevant orthopedic tests, and a complete neurological evaluation. The doctors will inform you if further testing is needed such as x-rays, blood work, or other forms of advanced imaging. You will then be advised if your condition can be helped by chiropractic, or it would be more appropriately managed by another health care provider. Your initial visit will end with passive physiotherapy and education about what will help decrease the symptoms you are experiencing.

What to expect at the second visit at SRWC?

During your second visit, you’ll receive an overall report of findings and discuss your individualized treatment plan. We’ll answer as many questions as possible and cover 4 main questions:

1. What’s wrong?
2. How can we treat it?
3. How long it will take?
4. How much will it cost?

You’ll be given the option of starting treatment with our staff. If you chose to do so, we’ll partner with you to determine the best therapy for your condition. With every visit to SRWC, you’ll experience the highest quality of care.
